Exclusive Interview with Dr. T.F.Madan
Head of the National Office of the World Business Organization (WBO) in Finland
"Finland: The Gateway to the Future of Smart Trade"

WBO Times: Dr. T.F. Madan, to begin, could you tell us about the mission of the World Business Organization’s National Office in Finland?
Dr. T.F. Madan:
Finland is recognized as one of the world's most advanced knowledge-based economies and consistently ranks among the leading countries in innovation, transparency, education, and technology. The mission of the WBO National Office in Finland is to serve as an effective bridge between Finland’s economic and technological capabilities and the members of our organization around the world. Our objective is to facilitate investment opportunities, technology transfer, scientific collaboration, international trade development, and joint projects for WBO members. Finland can also serve as one of the most strategic gateways for companies seeking access to European markets. This position is particularly significant given Finland’s strong innovation ecosystem and its commitment to sustainable development.
WBO Times: In your view, what is Finland’s greatest advantage for international business and investors?
Dr. T.F. Madan:
I believe Finland’s greatest advantage is trust. In today’s world, investors are not only looking for profitability; they are looking for predictable, transparent, and sustainable environments in which to operate. Finland has successfully built strong foundations in technology, digitalization, education, green economy initiatives, and innovation. The country also offers excellent connectivity to European markets and provides a highly supportive environment for international business development. Many Finnish institutions and organizations actively promote innovation, sustainability, and global cooperation, making Finland an attractive destination for long-term business engagement.
WBO Times: What are your priorities for expanding WBO’s activities in Finland?
Dr. T.F. Madan:
Our strategy is focused on three primary pillars. First, expanding the network of WBO members and strategic partners across Finland and the Nordic region. Second, strengthening connections between technology companies, startups, universities, researchers, and international investors. Third, participating in international initiatives and projects that advance sustainable development, secure trade, and smart economic ecosystems. In this context, the WBO National Office in Finland is prepared to serve as a coordinating hub for collaborative projects between WBO members and key economic stakeholders throughout Scandinavia and Northern Europe.
WBO Times: WBO is currently advancing its Global Network of Smart Secure Trade Cities initiative. How do you see Finland’s role within this project?
Dr. T.F. Madan:
Finland has the potential to become one of the key contributors to this initiative. The country is internationally recognized for its achievements in smart cities, digital public services, e-government, green technologies, and data management. Finland’s experiences and best practices can provide valuable models for cities and nations seeking to develop secure and intelligent trade infrastructures. I believe this initiative has the potential to become one of WBO’s most significant international projects in the coming decade, helping shape the future of global commerce through innovation, security, and cooperation.
WBO Times: How do you view the future of the global economy?
Dr. T.F. Madan:
The economy of the future will be built upon three essential pillars: technology, trust, and international collaboration. The most successful organizations will be those that effectively leverage artificial intelligence, data analytics, behavioral intelligence, and global partnership networks. At the same time, countries and institutions capable of building stronger trust and credibility will enjoy more sustainable competitive advantages. This is why organizations such as WBO will play an increasingly important role in developing new standards for secure trade, business education, international cooperation, and economic resilience.
WBO Times: What message would you like to share with WBO members around the world?
Dr. T.F. Madan:
The world is entering a new era of economic transformation. Extraordinary opportunities are emerging, but they will belong to those who are willing to learn, innovate, and collaborate beyond traditional boundaries. I encourage all WBO members to think globally, expand their international networks, and take full advantage of the opportunities provided through the World Business Organization. Together, we can contribute to building a safer, smarter, and more sustainable future for global trade and economic development.
WBO Times: Thank you for your time, Dr. Madan.

Dr. T.F. Madan: Thank you to WBO Times for this opportunity. I also extend my best wishes to all members of the World Business Organization and look forward to contributing to our shared vision of global prosperity, secure trade, and sustainable growth.
