WBO Releases 2021–2022 Annual Performance Report
The World Business Organization (WBO) has published its 2021–2022 Annual Performance Report, highlighting the Organization's successful establishment and its first year of institutional development as an international platform dedicated to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), promoting sustainable trade, and strengthening cross-border private-sector cooperation.
According to the report, WBO was founded in response to the growing demand for more resilient, transparent, and inclusive trade systems following the global disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. During its inaugural year, the Organization focused on creating the governance structures, strategic policies, and institutional foundations required for long-term international growth.
A key milestone was the first WBO international assembly held in Helsinki, Finland, which brought together private-sector representatives from 23 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The meeting resulted in the establishment of specialized working groups on trade standardization, SME development, digital innovation, and international education, alongside the adoption of the Helsinki Declaration on Responsible Trade and Cooperation, reaffirming WBO's commitment to transparency, sustainability, and responsible global commerce.
The report also highlights the Organization's efforts to build strategic partnerships with chambers of commerce, SME councils, universities, and development institutions. These collaborations supported the launch of international training, certification, and knowledge-sharing initiatives aimed at strengthening business resilience and expanding opportunities for sustainable economic development.
From an institutional perspective, WBO introduced transparent governance and financial management systems aligned with international best practices. Investments during the reporting period focused on organizational development, legal infrastructure, educational program design, and international outreach, establishing the operational capacity necessary for future expansion.
Looking ahead, the Organization identified membership growth, expanded international partnerships, and the implementation of educational and capacity-building programs as its primary strategic priorities. According to the report, the achievements of 2021–2022 laid the foundation for WBO's long-term vision of creating a secure, innovative, transparent, and inclusive global business ecosystem driven by international cooperation and responsible private-sector leadership.
